Kidworx 2009- looking back

2009 was a great year for Kidworx.  We had kids who would not have been able to stay in their league sports due to financial issues who were blessed with scholarships, as well as a couple who needed funds for high school sports.  We never imagined that high school baseball could be $400.00!  After calling the school and seeing if they could help at all (they didn’t), our committee decided to go ahead and commit the $400.00.  Thankful does not even begin to describe it.

The relationships between the kids and their parents were strengthened as they were able to say YES to the programs for their kids.  We were even able to help more kids by negotiating with some of the leagues and schools for matching funds, reduced rates, and in some cases their own scholarship programs.

The kids have been great volunteers, selling tickets, working the yard sale, volunteering at Christmas and just giving back.  What a great program for the community.  Thank you to everyone involved.

13 is the magic number

We have officially given out 13 scholarships to kids in Central Florida for a variety of sports and dance.  The stories have been so amazing from the football player who just needed a pair of cleats to play football to two girls who have the desire to win gold medals in the olympics.

It is such a blessing to be able to say yes we can help to a crying mother who is wondering how she can possibly disappoint her teenage daughter who just made the cheerleading team.  It is also wonderful to see the appreciation when two little girls give hugs to everyone in the office.

Even better is the sense of community service as the kids come back and volunteer with other kids to make these dreams a reality for more kids like them.

who we are

We are excited to introduce a new program that we are launching to engage youth in volunteerism and giving back to their communities.

Kidworx is a youth philanthropy program  in Central Florida started by kids under the umbrella of the Christian HELP Foundation, a Non-Profit Employment Ministry. The goal of this new program is to help children in need of financial assistance to participate in arts, sports, and music programs.

The Kidworx volunteers will set up and participate in fundraising activities on a regular basis to generate scholarship funds. Additionally, they will be seeking out individuals and corporations for sponsorship dollars.

The Kidworx program will take scholarship applications and they will be reviewed by a “board” of 8 kids and at least 2 adults. Once an applicant is chosen, they will be notified, and funds will go directly to the program they are interested in. If possible, equipment will be provided as well. The kidworx-logo-bw-tag2selected kids will also give back 6 hours towards fundraising activities for other kids.
